Typing Lesson 1: The Home Row (Right Hand)
The first principle of touch typing is to always return your fingers to the home row when you are not typing. The home row is your reference point for learning all other keys. Most keyboards have small bumps on the f and j keys to help you find the home row without looking.
The Home Row Keys (Right Hand)
h, j, k, l, ;
Position your right hand with your index finger on j, middle finger on k, ring finger on l, and pinky on ;. Your thumb should rest comfortably on the spacebar. Keep your fingers curved and raised above the keyboard so they can move easily without moving your hand.
Our first lesson focuses on practicing the h, j, k, l, and ; keys.
